Rising Discussion Groups

Rising: Dispatches from the New American Shore, by Elizabeth Rush, is the second book that the League will offer up for discussion.

This book enhances the sensitivity of readers of the threat to our coastlines as high tides and massive storms become the new normal. The author presents the case that it is not a matter of if, but when, we lose these lands. Hailed as “deeply felt” (New York Times), “a revelation” (Pacific Standard), and “the book on climate change and sea levels that was missing” (Chicago Tribune), Rising is both a highly original work of lyric reportage and a haunting meditation on how to let go of the places we love.

LWV Plymouth is very pleased that Book Discussion Leader extradinaire Jennifer Harris, retired Director of the Plymouth Public Library, will once again lead the discussions.

There will be two sections:

  • Section A will meet Wednesday afternoon June 23, at 2:00pm
  • Section B will meet Thursday evening, June 24, at 7:00pm

Attendance is limited to 15 in each section.

You will receive confirmation prior to June 19, and Zoom details and discussion questions nearer to the sessions.

If you are interested in participating in the discussion, we recommend purchasing or obtaining the book to begin reading as soon as possible.
