The Town Clerk provides assistance for anyone who wishes to run for office. You must take out nomination papers at the Clerk’s office if you are interested in running for any position in town.

How to Run for Office Workshop

The Running for Office program presented on February 5th , 2026 at Town Hall drew an audience of over 40 people. Organized and led by Emily Tompkins, with participation of Town Meeting Representative (and 8th grade civics teacher) Harrison Quinn, Committee of Precinct Chairs Chairman Matt Tavares, Town Clerk Kelly McElreath, and Election Coordinator Tyler Hazard, it was informative, educational and fun. A brief overview of our form of Town Government was followed by the steps and legal requirements needed to run for office. Then the elected officials present offered their tips for getting support and votes.
